Great to see Masta Ace back, he’s appearing on Marco Polo’s hyped-up new album “Port Authority” to remind us why we love this game so much and to proove that Rawkus Records is still alive. (mov/youtube)(making of)

Now I’ll cut back on posting music videos, I swear… Nah.

What’s Up, Fatlip?

April 21st, 2007

Fatlip is a member of the legendary Pharcyde hiphop group and in 2005 released his solo debut The Loneliest Punk with mediocre reviews.

Spike Jonze is mainly a music video and movie director, but a very busy guy: He directed many skateboard videos like Girl’s Yeah Right! and Hot Chocolate, was the star is Fatboy Slim’s Praise You video (check this), co-created the whole Jackass line and much more.

Together they created a pretty funny music video with a documentary/mockumentary about Fatlip’s life, personality and influences.

Here’s a Youtube playlist for the documentary (Just click the “Play all videos” button on the right). Definitely watch part 10 ‘Oh Shit Dating A Transvestite’ , I nearly fell over from laughing.

KJ Sawka - “Montreal” dir. Clay Lipsky

April 14th, 2007

A couple months ago I blogged about a music video for Daedelus’ Sundown, which was pretty great, directed by a fella named Clay Lipsky.
He sent me an email to inform me, and maybe a little promotion which is cool cause he has some great stuff, about his latest work.

It’s a music video for, a drum ‘n bass electronica artist, KJ Sawka. I’m not really into the music, all thought I like some Aphex twin or Squarepusher from time to time, but the artist seems really driven and that’s all you need to make good music, love for the business. Check out a live session on the tube.

Again, the video looks great, it nicely blends in with the music (flash, ifilm/ytube).
Apparently Clay also did the Coldcut True Skool video with Roots Manuva and some other artsy projects.
Anyway check his website and props to you, Clay, go clay go.

Tracy Morgan

April 14th, 2007

Tracy Morgan is an actor, stand-up comedian and a genuinely funny guy. He is best known as a regular cast member of the popular SNL show, for 7 years.

He currently sides beside the amazing Alec Baldwin in a humoristic TV show called 30 Rock. The show recently announced that it will be renewed for a second season, which the guys at Dork Magazine seem to love.

Watch a recent interview on Late Night with Conan O’ Brien and another funny sketch after the jump.

Two videos of the same song from one of my favorite bands. Enjoy.
The right one is the official video of the single, the left one is a short animated video of a giant head floating around ny which seems to be based on a 1974 science fiction film called Zardoz.

My favorites: Osama, Scream.

William Spencer Hollarado

April 4th, 2007

William Spencer, eh, I’ll remember that name. Some Rodney Mullen kinda switch tricks combined with free running, hate the Bon Jovi song though.
But the last trick he did is sick, you can see his attempts in this video.

El-p - I’ll Sleep When You’re Dead

April 1st, 2007

I'll Sleep When You're Dead

Just saw his new video for Smithereens over at the nytimes site. El Producto goes as a detainee in a Guantanamo Bay like environment being heavily abused. I’m thinking MTV will never play it without censoring, like Deep Space 9mm.

Anyway, check out I’ll Sleep When You’re Dead at Definitive Jux, I had to give it a few listens to really appreciate it, it kinda grows on you.
