In this section I post my occasional snippets of insight on outbound links that are necessary material in your cultural well-being. Josdigital in short bursts, if you will.

Massive Attack – “Splitting the Atom”

Love the touch of film grain combined with black chrome. The evolution towards the end is amazing. P4k calls it monstrous shit, which it definitely is.

Broken Bells – “The High Road”

Lovely video for the Danger Mouse/James Mercer combo project out in March.

Caribou – “Odessa”

Don’t know what to expect from Dan Snaith’s forthcoming Swim after blissful Andorra, a personal favorite and this shifting jumpy joyous single. (via)

xx – “VCR”

I couldn’t picture a better video. Simple video, simple song, minimal theme, all is good.

jj – “My Way”

We know jj covered Weezy before on 2009 favorite jj n°2, but this vocal sample makes it another delicious summery feel-good track, aka just the way we like it.

Animal Collective – “Brothersport”

This is the song that got me into the psychedelic AnCo repertoire, and the video is nothing but. Quite a head trip. Don’t do drugs kids, just watch this.

The Xx – Islands (Nosaj Thing Remix)

I’ve already declared Nosaj Thing a kid to look out for. Now listen to this impeccable remix, along with a Charlotte Gainsbourg/Beck remix.

Jónsi – “boy lilikoi”

Jónsi of Sigur Rós goes english on a marvelous first track for a tba LP. Can’t wait.

We Make It Good Mix Series Vol. 11: Salem

Salem delivers another collage of hard, trippy ‘n dark progression. I’m down. Remember.

Generation Kill

If you ever get the chance to pick up this exhilarating drama/action show, please do. I’m struck with awe (makingof).

Four Tet – “Love Cry” (Joy Orbison Remix)

New dubsteppy remix for the already masterly Love Cry is blissful and a whole lot epic. Delicious.

Air – “Sing Sang Sung”

“Love 2″ is kind of disappointing, what is not is this cute video, feels like a little ball rolling around in your eardrum.

Massive Attack – “United Snakes”

Gorgeous animated video for their 2010 album where being creative with abstract shapes is key. Full screen y’all.

Bat for Lashes: Two Plus Two

48-min feature on the creation of Natasha’s second album. She’s desirable, talented and has a great vision on music. Great watch.

Massive Attack – Psyche Remix

Pitchfork semi-bashes their new EP for staying true to their sound. Can somewhat relate, but ethereal Psyche is on heavy rotation here.
