Four Tet - I’m on Fire

June 22nd, 2008

Four Tet’s new Ringer EP is crazy. Great to see new work from the musical genius that is Kieran Hebden, besides his work with Steve Reid.

I’m on Fire is a two part song Kieran Hebden did for an EP in 2002.
It’s not so easy to find, but to me it’s the kind of song that I can play on a never ending loop for days and still wouldn’t get bored.

btw that image was for a promotional Dj mix for the Ringer EP. Just really liked it, reminds me of the Sony Bravia commercial.

Apparat - Walls

If you’re a regular here at Josdigital you know I’m into alternative electronic music, so this is totally my thing.
Sascha Ring aka Apparat is a well known and respected musician in the Berlin based electronic scene. With his latest effort he received a lot of critical acclaim by Pitchfork and the whole blogging community. Rightfully that is, cause Walls is as solid as Radiohead latest, and as timeless as any Boards of Canada record. Last.fm says Apparat recently became “more interested in designing sounds than beats“, which is what attracted me in the first place.

Apparat uses a lot of diverse organic sounds, mostly covered by a mellow downtempo beat, to create a very entertaining listen throughout the album.

Even though every track on this album is equally as great, “Limelight” must probably be my favorite track. In the middle of the track there’s a kind of sporadic handclap in sync with the beat that I find really appealing (kinda reminds my of BoC’s Pete Standing Alone with the robot voice).
Anyway, I highly recommend it to people that spend a lot of time in the car, or just like to chill on a late saturday morning with a self-grained cup of joe.

Boom Bip - “In The Tree Tops”

It’s been pretty slow down here with the holidays and all. I’m slowly progressing on my favorite albums of the year list, which I’ll be posting pretty soon, so watch out for that.

In the mean time, check out this crazy little abstract video for Boom Bip’s In The Tree Tops. I’m a Boom Bip fan, but with his latest, Sacchrilege EP, he steered in a surprising new direction. A bit Justice, Simian Mobile Disco like, with the raw 80’s electro-synths. Not bad, I’m just surprised to see what’s coming.
