Gunkanjima
Filed under Entertainment, Environment, Image, Technology, World & Business.
“Gunkanjima is an island built upon a reef in the early 19th century because of a coal mine in the reefs and quickly became a densely populated island 1 km in diameter and 5300 people living packed together, working the mines.”
Wouldn’t wanna be there when night falls, looks pretty scary, nice pictures though.
Manhattan in the near future?

This is what will happen if we don’t listen to Al Gore and his presentation of the global warming issue, An Inconvenient Truth.
Also check out the whole slideshow, there are some great pictures in there like The rising Dubai skyline.
Now don’t mind me while I go burn some more fossil fuels..

The Pirate Bay Wants to Buy Sealandand and offers citizenship
Filed under Political, Technology, World & Business.
So it’s like this, BitTorrent tracker The Pirate Bay has announced that their intentions are to buy a small country or island, where no copyright laws exist since it’s in international waters.

They set sight on an old gun battery from World War II off the coast of England, called Sealand since the owners recently announced that it was for sale.
“…if they actually wind up owning this thing they *better* be arriving there on a pirate ship.”, said a digg user.

Boards of Canada - Dayvan Cowboy
Filed under Entertainment, Music, Science, Technology, Thoughts, Video.
Directed by Melissa Olson
The music video is composed from footage of 1960 Joseph Kittinger, the man that set the record for the longest free fall with a helium balloon for Project Excelsior, and Laird Hamilton’s ride of a giant wave.
The music and the visuals blend so nicely together, a real mood setter, could be my favorite song ever.
According to Last.fm, the 3rd most played track on my list is Dayvan Cowboy with 34 plays in total. I got El-P with T.O.J. on #1 and Madvillain with Great Day (Four Tet remix) on #2. Other followers are Sigur Rós – Starálfur, Amon Tobin – Easy Muffin and Cannibal Ox – Pigeon.
Yeah, I like all kinds of music, except country music of course, being from underground hiphop to post rock and from metal to indie electronica.

The Power Of Video Editing Video

This is a very fast paced video that shows the wonders of video editing. It looks easy but I’m sure that it takes long hours to achieve something like this.
Also found other amazing videos from a video editing company called RIOT.
Digg v4 - Dark gray design
Filed under Entertainment, Technology. | Comment (1)

Well, digg.com launched version 4 of their popular website which includes a special section for videos, a brand new podcasting directory and a big interface update.
I actually think it looks a lot better, but as you know I’m a big control freak. I just can’t look at an all white background for a long time, so I took out my “css skills” again and created another css userstyle to change the look of digg.com.
It isn’t quite finished yet but looks pretty good already. It’s a lot more colorful than the previous style Digg v3 - Dark gray design, which broke when v4 launched.
You can find this and my other styles in my “Downloads” section or in my profile at userstyles.org.

Will it blend?
Filed under Entertainment, Humor, Technology, Video, World & Business.
Will it blend? is the marketing technique of Blendtec, a distributer of, you guessed it, blenders.
Personally, I enjoyed seeing the marbles get demolished into glass dust and the demise of the credit cards.
