AmonTobin.com launching Feb. 26th

amon-tobin-website-teaser.jpg

This is a teaser for Amon Tobin’s new website, which launches on February 26th.
A designer said:

I’m from Notice Bureau, we were in charge of creative and art direction on this project, and we’ve been working on this for over a year. Don’t know if it exactly applies to your blog, but it sure is fun, and we created more that 30mns of animations and videos for the final site.

Meanwhile watch this unofficial music video of Amon Tobin’s Slowly that some guy made with a video game called Gary’s Mod.

BTW I also bought Gary’s Mod and I’m having way to much fun with it, very addictive. It isn’t exactly a game, it’s an application that gives you all kinds of tools to play around with Half-Life ’s physics engine. You can make movies and do all kinds of crazy shit, just check out the site.

How ’bout that

Peekvid: Watch Videos Online
I know I’ve posted about these things in the past, but I’ve kept an eye on this for a couple of weeks now and it seems to not get shut down, being illegal and all.
So have fun kids!

deviantART v5: where ART meets application!

July 23rd, 2006

deviantART.jpgdeviantART: where ART meets application!
Great news,.. I think. DeviantArt recently announced their v5 to be released on August 7th; it’ll be their 6th birthday.

It can only be an improvement I think.

First and foremost, the layout. It’s the first thing you see when you visit a site, it’s the first thing you really gauge your opinion of a website on. Combined with the colorscheme makes it just plain ugly.
Navigation is a mess, deviations are nested inside multiple categories. I’m no expert but I think it would be better to use tags instead of categories, like Flickr.
Ads, the homepage doesn’t have ads below the navigation, but every other page has a big block of google’s adsense crammed in between.
I can’t really flame on ads because everybody’s got to make a little money and they got their servers to pay too. Although, I bet they make enough money off of the custom prints they sell.
Aside from the website itself, it’s a great community of talented artists giving away their creations for free.
I go their about once a week to pick out a new dual screen desktop wallpaper(not bragging or anything :-)). I always end up satisfied and astonished.

Here are some of my favorite deviants.(deviants=users, deviations=creations)…

Last.fm redesign and …greasemonkey

July 18th, 2006

The image “http://static.last.fm/depth/header/logo_black.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.Last.fm added some more eyecandy, totally unnecessary, a new friends system and a new client. The client is pretty cool, it replaces the plugins for all the popular players. On the other hand, it’s another application running in the background.

Most greasemonkey scripts that I had installed for last.fm stopt working because of the html redesign. Just have to wait for updates.

These are the ones I use(ed):

My User Page

btw I wrote a greasemonkey script myself, it automatically redirects any moviemeter page to its corresponding imdb page. Unfortunately I forgot my password of my userscripts.org profile, so I can’t edit this script anymore.
Have fun.
